It is both my passion and privilege to work with adults and young people experiencing a wide range of psychological and emotional issues. I offer face to face and online sessions.
I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Humanistic Counselling & Psychotherapy which has laid the foundations for my approach. I focus on understanding and exploring your unique world and how you perceive it. You may want to address a specific issue and/or together we could work to understand your values and beliefs, your relationship with yourself, with others, and with the outside world. I work collaboratively with my clients as I believe you are the expert on you and that therapy is done with you, not to you! I will tailor my therapeutic approach to support you in the best way possible.
Sometimes young people feel anxious about a full 50 minute session, when this is the case I would be happy to offer 30 minute emotional support sessions to begin with.
I have a specific interest in trauma and work with both those experienced in childhood and in adulthood. As such, I work with clients using a trauma informed approach. For clients who are experiencing PTSD I use a specific therapy called the Rewind Technique which seeks to relieve sufferers of their symptoms. For more information please click here.
I am proud to be an ally of the LGBT+ community and often work with clients exploring their experience of their sexuality and or gender identity.
I continue to attend regular training sessions and workshops that apply to the issues I work with to deepen my knowledge and expertise. Alongside my private practice I volunteer as a counselling assessor for a charity supporting young people aged 13 to 25 and previously I was a counsellor for a charity supporting carers.
I am an accredited registered member of the National Counselling Society and work within their Code of Ethics and to their Standards of Professional Practice. The accredited register is a mark of my commitment to high standards.
What to expect from me
I offer both short and long term therapy in person or online. The number of sessions will depend on the issues you bring and the pace you would like to work at.
I will strive to provide you with a relationship where you will feel safe to talk openly about your inner most thoughts and feelings in a confidential and secure environment. My hope is that the therapeutic relationship that we build will allow you to understand yourself better.
My promise to you
I won’t try to fix you or give you advice, I won’t tell you what to do or pretend I have all the answers. I will support you in figuring out how to make the hard stuff easier to live with.
My tailored therapeutic approach will support the changes you wish to make to the way you think, feel, behave and the ways you relate to others. I will listen carefully, empathetically and without judgement. I will treat you with respect and integrity.
